Kinder Cemetery — burial records, Cahokia Township, Macoupin County, Illinois

A wide view across Kinder Cemetery in early autumn: weathered stone obelisks and low markers standing in rows on dry, leaf-strewn grass, framed by mature trees still in leaf, with woodland closing the far edge of the grounds.

Kinder Cemetery is a historic rural cemetery with burials dating back to the early 1800s, first called Oakland, on land set aside in 1857 near the town of Clyde, later renamed Hornsby. This site preserves the cemetery’s records so that families, historians, and genealogists can find the people resting here.

About these records

Kinder Cemetery’s records were kept for generations on paper and, more recently, on large hand-drawn charts. This website transcribes those records into fully searchable text so that anyone can find a name — something the earlier image-based site could not offer. A few entries are still being checked against the originals; these are marked so visitors know to treat them with care. If you spot an error or can add information about a family member, please let us know.
